Metamaterials with temporal inhomogeneity for controlling optical fields (ФизикА.СПб)
This work is devoted to investigation of light interaction with time-varying media. The reflection and transmission coefficients through the medium, whose refractive index is uniformly switched in time, are calculated. It is shown that tailoring the temporal profile of the refractive index change allows for tuning the amplitudes of the transmitted and reflected waves. We find that for the efficient light conversion in time-varying media the switching time should be an order of magnitude smaller than the wave period.
